Blurry, obscure and daring, Francesco Risso of Marni questions the tale-as-old-as-time constraints of beauty. Psychedelic flowers and rose-colored lips pattern the fabrics that are photographed at extreme angles. Risso, a pattern mixing addict spoke to Cam Wolf of GQ in 2019 about where his colorful and maximalist obsession began; he “would raid his parents' and siblings' closets like a mad scientist in search of parts. His sister would go out and return home to find jackets with sleeves lopped off or a skirt sprouting pant legs. His habit “tragically created dramas,” and earned him the nickname, the “Virus of the Wardrobe.”

For me, the hazy viewpoint is what transforms the pieces – it is as if they are meant to be seen in these unconventional ways. For me, the orange and white striped stockings take the cake, bringing a dark, Alice in Wonderland-esque vibe (a Risso Favorite). This collection is continuing Marni’s experimental and risky tradition of breaking barriers and offering new perspectives. What I love each time I encounter a Marni piece or collection, is the fun and playfulness that it brings. You can never be too down while sporting Marni.
